Spanish pavilion
Dubai
2018
Our proposal SOL y SOMBRA takes up these concepts to bring the visitor to Spain, convinced that the form and the material of architecture are no longer enough to convey the essence of a country. The absence of an “iconic” shape and the clarity of an orderly structure that permits to be assembled, disassembled and reused, wants to set in value other criteria, essential in architecture. With a minimal footprint on the ground, a light raised structure provides shade to an open plaza welcoming all visitors that evokes a water garden, where a patio and a pond coexist and where the movement of visitors on different terraces is possible.Light and shadow are present in the lattice that surrounds the Pavilion touching the ground on tiptoe as a large arcade. A perforated façade made up by numerous small pieces that are all connected assembled to obtain a larger and unitary image such as a modular Spain brand, that can be repeated in continuity.
