Congress Center of Alicante
Alicante
2023
The Alicante Congress Center resembles a ship firmly anchored to the barren pier number 7, turning pier 9 into a dense urban garden shaded by large Mediterranean trees such as Palms and Pines. This will be the first image that travelers arriving by sea will see. The image of a large, white, light ship docked in the unexpected garden that appears on the docks, surrounded by cruise ships and sailboats.
The presence of the new building, which contains auditoriums with capacities for 300 to 2,000 seats bathed in natural light, is underlined by the orderly rhythm of its white concrete structure and the lightness of the textile architecture that provides a shading system in its two main orientations exposed to the eastern and western sun. The proposal not only seeks to be a powerful economic resource, but also a social facility that gives citizens the opportunity to get closer to the sea from a new Maritime Garden.
